Everyone's favorite food

Hi, everyone cannot live without food.In the century of 21st,traditional food in every culture is still Malaysian favorites. Although nowadays fast food such as McDonalds,KFC and Mary Brown  has introduced o us, Malaysian still does not forget the great taste that make us remember in our whole life.

Let me introduced some of the top ranking traditional food of every culture in Malaysia. When you see all the pictures about those traditional foods,do not drool and quickly go to the nearest stall and taste it!

First I would like to introduce Malay’s traditional food, that is NasiLemak. NasiLemak is the most popular food in every culture as most of us will choose Nasi Lemak as our breakfast choice. Apparently, you could easily get it anytime from street stall sellers to 5-star hotels. Nasi Lemak is known as Malay cuisine.

Traditionally, nasilemak is served with a platter of side dishes wrapped in banana leaves, including cucumber slices, small fried anchovies, roasted peanuts, hard-boiled egg, and hot spicy sauce. Most of these accompaniments are spicy in nature. My bet is to try out those packed with banana leaves in small portion which cost only RM1.00 and they are really delicious. You can’t miss this!

Besides that, in Malay culture, Satay is also among the most famous food in Malaysia. Satay originated in Indonesia, however it spreads until worldwide.

Satay is a dish with marinated meat being barbecues over charcoal. The peanut sauce is a must as companion. Some would also like to be served with onions, cucumber and even ketupat, a rice cube wrapped with palm leaves.
It can be found throughout every state in Malaysia. Besides restaurants that serve satays, one can find hawkers selling satay in food courts and pasarmalam. The famously known outlets are in Kajang, Selangor which dubbed as the Sate City in the country. Sate Haji Samuri is very popular in Kajang as well as throughout Malaysia. One stick of satay costs normally RM0.50 and bet you could easily eat more than 5 sticks in one go!

In the addition, after doing research, I found that most of us also like “char kueyteow”. Figure 1.3 below shows the picture of the Chinese Char KueyTeow.

There are the others type of the “Char KueyTeow” that most of the Malay fried it. They fried it at different ways.

There are also famous roti canai in our country.

Roti canai is a type of Indian-influences flatbread found in Malaysia and Indonesia. It is often sold in Mamak stalls in Malaysia. It is known as roti prata in Southern Malaysia and Singapore, and is similar to the Indian Kerala porotta.
Roti canai resembles local fried pancake which is made from dough which has wide variety of topping such as egg, sardines, banana, and anything you can named it. Best served with Dhall curry or even only white sugar.

Chocolate-Peanut Butter Cheesecake  with Chocolate Glaze

  • Crust

    • Vegetable-oil cooking spray
    • 1 cup finely ground chocolate wafer cookies (4 ounces)
    • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
    • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • Filling

    • 4 ounces semisweet chocolate (55 to 61 percent cacao), finely chopped
    • 4 packages (8 ounces each) cream cheese, room temperature
    • 1 1/2 cups sugar
    • Pinch of coarse salt
    • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
    • 4 large eggs, room temperature
    • 1/2 cup smooth peanut butter

    Directions

    1. Crust: Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Wrap bottom and outside of a 9-inch springform pan with a double layer of foil. Coat bottom of pan with cooking spray, and line with parchment. Spray parchment.
    2. Stir together cookie crumbs, butter, and sugar in a medium bowl. Press mixture firmly into bottom of pan, and bake until firm, about 10 minutes. Let cool completely in pan on wire rack.
    3. Filling: Melt chocolate in a bowl set over a saucepan of simmering water. Let cool. Beat cream cheese with a mixer on medium speed until fluffy, about 3 minutes. Reduce speed to low, and beat in sugar in a slow, steady stream until combined. Beat in salt and vanilla until thoroughly combined and completely smooth. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating just until combined after each addition (do not overmix).
    4. Divide cream-cheese filling in half. Stir peanut butter into 1 half; stir melted chocolate into other half. Ladle 1 cup peanut butter filling into center of crust, and tap pan gently on counter to settle. Ladle 1 cup chocolate filling directly on top of peanut butter filling. Repeat, then switching to half-cup amounts, continue to ladle fillings into crust, alternating them until all of each filling is used.
    5. Bring a kettle of water to a boil. Set cake pan in a large roasting pan, and transfer to oven. Carefully pour boiling water into roasting pan to reach halfway up sides of cake pan. Bake until cake is set but still slightly wobbly in center, about 1 hour 20 minutes. Let cool completely in pan on wire rack. Refrigerate cake in pan until cold, at least 6 hours, up to overnight. Before unmolding, run a knife around edge of cake. Pour glaze over top of cake, smoothing with an offset spatula and letting it drip down the sides.
